I stayed in Pathein Hotel on that day. It was still a national hotel in those days. Today Myanmar Treasure Resorts manages this hotel. I think its facility is one of the best in Pathein though it is far from the center of Pathein. Room 201 on the 2nd floor is the best room.

The yard becomes a beer garden at the night.

Outlet was the B3 plug type at that time. After remodeling of the hotel, now the outlet is for A, B and C types. The voltage is about 220V.

There was a phone in the room. But you had to ask the operator when you wanted to make outgoing calls to the outside of the hotel.

OVER SEAReceptionBooking

You can read "OVER SEA," "Reception," "Booking." You have to book international calls at the reception in Pathein Hotel. In addition, nobody knows when the international call will be available.

Blackout often occurs in Myanmar. Such a device is always intermediated between outlets and air conditioners and refrigerators integrated with compressors. Once a blackout, the device will start transmitting electricity five minutes later after electricity resumes. But the device never lets an air conditioner turned on because timer count starts from zero again during blackout occurs continuously every 2 or 3 minutes.
